Embassy of Latvia to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland is pleased to celebrate Latvia’s 106th Independence Day with a music concert performed by Maris Briezkalns Quintet (MBQ) and special guest, vocalist Jessica Radcliffe.
MBQ is a prominent acoustic mainstream band in the Latvian jazz scene, emphasizing pop, jazz, and Latin jazz. MBQ has showcased their talent on various international platforms such as MIDEM, Pori Jazz, London Jazz Festival, Ottawa Jazz, Jazz at Castle in Prague, Venice Jazz Festival, Blue Note Jazz Club in New York, Tokyo Jazz Fest, and more.
MBQ’s project Latvian Evergreens has three volumes, showcasing Latvian classical music as versatile jazz arrangements. MBQ continuously pushes the boundaries of jazz and frequently incorporates special guests into their projects. For this concert, dedicated to Latvia’s 106th birthday, the special guest will be the renowned vocalist, Jessica Radcliffe. Together, they will deliver Latvian classical music fused with a jazz sensibility.
