Join us for a free lunchtime concert on the 7th June! The concerts showcase a variety of musical traditions and provide a space for up-and-coming musicians to perform in a relaxed lunchtime setting.
Mihael Majetić is a London-based musician and guitarist. Originally from Croatia, he was trained at the Royal Academy of Music in London where he earned his Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts degrees in Classical Guitar Performance.
Mihael has performed in prominent venues, such as Royal Albert Hall, Kings Place, St Martin in the Fields, 10 Downing Street, The Royal Overseas League, Croatian National Theatre and he played the guitar on recordings featured on BBC Radio London and BBC Sunday Morning Live.
For his achievements, the Royal Academy of Music awarded Mihael the Paton Award (2019), J Hope & Pryor Award (2018) and Timothy Gilson Guitar Prize (2017). During his time at the Academy, Mihael has been coached by the leading British guitar teacher Michael Lewin, and has also been supervised by renowned guitarists David Russell and Fabio Zanon.
Mihael has won prizes at several music competitions both solo and with ensembles, such as London International Guitar Competition, Leicester Music Fest, Opatija Competition of Chamber Ensembles, Omis Guitar Fest and Porec Tirando.
Mihael’s classical guitar repertoire includes music from the 16th century all the way through to contemporary compositions, of which he particularly enjoys those by a Cuban composer Leo Brouwer for whom he had a chance to perform in the public masterclass at Bolivar Hall in London (April 2017).
Furthermore, Mihael likes to collaborate with composers to see new guitar works come to life. In June 2019 at the Royal Academy of Music he premiered a new piece The Lute Playing written for him by a Singaporean Joseph Lim.
Mihael currently performs on a lattice cedar-top guitar hand-made for him in 2015 by a Croatian luthier Antonio Zwirn.
Along with his performing qualifications, Mihael holds a teaching diploma Licentiate of the Royal Academy of Music (LRAM). He gives private guitar lessons in person and online, and is a visiting guitar teacher at Thomas’s Fulham and Hatcham College.
In addition to his classical guitar career, Mihael plays in jazz bands and performs in a guitar & voice pop duo. He also works part-time as a Music Director at All Souls Langham Place where he plays the guitar, conducts, arranges, writes and records music.
