Come and Sing – Workshop and Performance with Bob Chilcott

Join one of Britain’s leading choral composers and conductors as he leads a workshop on his own music, culminating in a performance alongside professional soloists for friends and family.

 

Tea and refreshments, as well as copies of the music will be provided.

 

The piece for the workshop will be Circlesong. This piece makes a great day of singing, with variety and some very beautiful movements.

Workshop: 13:00-16:00 (including breaks)

Performance: 16:00-17:00

 

This is a day to celebrate music and connect with others. Friends and family are invited to come and watch the performance at 4pm.

Bob Chilcott has dedicated his life to choral music, beginning as a chorister and choral scholar in the renowned choir of King’s College, Cambridge, before spending 12 years as a member of the King’s Singers. Since 1997, he has pursued a full-time career as a composer and conductor, building an extensive and widely performed catalogue of choral works, published by Oxford University Press. Some of his most celebrated pieces include Can You Hear Me?, A Little Jazz Mass, Requiem, and St John Passion.

A highly sought-after conductor and educator, Chilcott has led choirs in over 30 countries and continues to inspire thousands of amateur singers through his popular Singing Days. He has also held distinguished positions in the choral world, serving as Principal Guest Conductor of the BBC Singers since 2002 and, since 2019, as Principal Conductor of the Birmingham University Singers. His music is cherished for its warmth, accessibility, and ability to bring singers and audiences together in a shared musical experience.
