Free a cappella concert: Faroese Chamber Choir

4 June 2024, 18.00 - 19.00

Tarira is a Faroese chamber choir of 20 singers, all experienced in choral singing and music in general. The choir was founded in the spring of 2002 and several of the founding members are still in the choir.

One of the main objects of the choir is to perform contemporary pieces by Faroese, Nordic and international composers, as well as baroque and renaissance music.
Tarira takes great pride in commissioning pieces from Faroese composers and has, during its 20 years commissioned over 50 pieces.

Tarira is often asked to sing for a large variety of jobs, from the ceremonious performance before the Royal Danish Court, performance at the Nordic Music Days to rather alternative assignments, such as the cooperation with composer Kristian Blak for the premiere of his first opera.

Tarira also collaborated with the Faroese singer-songwriter Teitur on his project “Weekdays” for choir and ensemble, and performed and recorded music in Faroese, and English, by the Faroese singer-songwriter Elin Brimheim Heinesen, arranged by Enzo De Rosa.

Tarira’s reputation has been firmly established through many high-level performances both at home in the Faroe Islands and abroad.
