Join us for a free lunchtime concert on the 2nd of May with esteemed musicians from the Royal Academy of Music!

 

Alexander Trio

 

Formed in their first year at the Royal Academy of Music, the Alexander Trio receives mentorship from Karen Jones and James Bailleu. Recent performances include Gaubert’s “Trois Aquerelles” at the Royal Academy of Music’s Piano Trio Day.

 

Sofía Patterson-Gutiérrez (Flute) is in her second year studying with Michael Cox at the Royal Academy of Music under a full scholarship. In her first year she was the winner of the Academy’s piccolo prize and also enjoyed playing with the Academy Symphony Orchestra as principal flautist. Previous to starting at the Academy she went to Chetham’s School of Music and was the woodwind category winner of BBC Young Musician of the Year 2022 and principal flautist of the National Youth Orchestra from the age of 16 (in 2022 and 2023). In the summer she will be performing as a soloist and chamber musician at the Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in Germany. Recent highlights include performances with the Philharmonia at the Royal Festival Hall and solo and chamber recital at the Wigmore Hall.

 

Leo De Flammineis (Cello) is a second-year undergraduate cellist studying with Christoph Richter at the Royal Academy of Music. He started playing the cello aged five and also sang in the London Oratory Schola Cantorum since the age of eight. Prior to joining the Royal Academy of Music he was at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, where he studied with Michal Kaznowski. He was part of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain in 2023. He has participated in masterclasses with cellists such as Alexander Baillie, Colin Carr, Rebecca Gilliver, Anssi Karttunen, Renaud Déjardin and Arto Noras.

 

Hayden Miller (Piano) is a pianist from Houston, Texas who currently studies at the Royal Academy of Music with Mei-Ting Sun, where he was the 2023 recipient of the WH and George Myddleton Award. With repertoire ranging from Louis Couperin to Alexina Louie, he often travels beyond the canon of classical music, creating interdisciplinary experiences with visual artists, writers, actors, and dancers. Hayden was a 2023 Young Arts winner, and received top prizes in the Oberlin Piano Competition and Houston International Music Competition. He recently made debuts at music festivals in Italy and Finland, and will be making his debut at the Folkestone New Music Festival in March 2025 alongside members of Riot Ensemble. Hayden began his studies with Piper Ward, and received a diploma in Piano Performance from the Kinder High School for the Performing and Visual Arts while studying with Jennifer Hayghe.
